About the Pastor

Gerald P. Malkus has been Pastor at Hope Presbyterian Church for more than a decade. Prior to that Pastor Malkus was Pastor of a large reformed church in the Charleston area and also was Pastor in New Jersey also at a Reformed Church. Pastor Malkus's father is also a Presbyterian Pastor so Pastor Malkus grew up in the Presbyterian Church. Pastor is respected by all the members of the Church for the depth and exposition in his preaching, his vast knowledge and his ability to apply the scripture to current issues facing today's believers. His kindness to those in need and love to all is evident in his daily activities. Pastor Malkus is married to Pam Malkus. Pam Malkus leads the Woman's Bible Studies and is active in leading the Church.

About the Elders

Elder Jonathan Looney has been an overseer of the body of believers for many years. He at times presides over our worship services and delivers sermons at Hope in the Pastor's absence. He also preaches at other reformed churches upon request. Elder Looney also has helped in foreign missions and has made several mission trips to Uganda. Mr. Looney is married to Elizabeth Looney. Mrs. Looney is an integral part of the Church and teaches Sunday School Classes for teens and children.

Gary Baker is also a Ruling Elder at Hope Presbyterian.  He also sometimes presides over the worship service at times. He along with Elder Looney and Pastor Malkus meet at least monthly to carry out the work of the Session. Ruling elders also participate in administration of the sacraments (Baptism and the Lord's Supper) and provide counseling along with the Pastor. He is married to Marilyn Baker.  Marilyn is  the Church Treasurer and is involved in teaching of adult woman and children's Sunday school.

About the Deacons

Deacon David Leighton has handled the affairs of Hope Presbyterian Church including finances, maintenance and improvements, charitable deeds and deeds of mercy among other activities for a number of years.  David also leads the call to worship at Sunday services weekly by the reading of God's word. David is a teacher at Faith Heritage School where he teaches both Bible and Science.
